Alcasa expects government's investment to maintain operability

Workers, production managers and unions of the Venezuelan state-run aluminum smelter Aluminios del Caroní S.A. (Alcasa) continued rallying on Friday to demand the government to invest in the state-run company with a view to economic recovery and operability of the plant.

They also requested the setting up of a working group to address labor needs. José Gil, the secretary general of the Trade Union of Venezuela's aluminum company CVG Alcasa (Sintralcasa) told El Universal that they are seeking a renewed collective bargaining agreement.

In addition, he said, raw materials in the aluminum smelter are in short supply.
