Adolf Hitler made his debut as Germany's head of state. In the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt took over. They would eventually clash. However, the ghost of war did not haunt yet the world. People were busy with economic affairs and the US financial crisis continued being a world issue. Fortunately, King Kong was featured in the New York cinemas to entertain the audience

US aviator Jimmy Angel found in southern Venezuela a waterfall
higher than 3,215 feet when flying over in search of gold
mines. While some explorers had accounted for the natural
monument, Angel disclosed his finding. In this way, the highest
falls in the world were officially discovered. The explorer
came back four years later, together with his wife and a Venezuelan
friend called Gustavo Henry. The aircraft got stuck in the
Auyantepuy and the members of the expedition walked down.
Since then, the Kerepakupai-merú, as the Pemons call
it, was introduced to the world as the Angel Falls.
Anyhow, rather than Venezuela and its natural wonders, global
attention was paid to incoming governments around the world.
On March 30th, national socialist leader Adolf Hitler became
the first Germany's head of state elected as the German Chancellor.
A mighty Hitler liquidated the Congress and called election.
The Nazis got 44 percent of the votes; that was enough to
endorse the National Unification Law and legitimate Hitler's
dictatorship. Consequently, he banned opposition political
parties; imprisoned German communist deputies; formalized
persecution of Jewish and got started for the war.
King Kong and Roosevelt
On the other side of the world, the King Kong film
was exhibited at the Radio City Music Hall, in New York City.
It is not the only news in the United States, as Franklin
Delano Roosevelt started his first presidential term.
After a presidential campaign that promised to fight against
economic recession, Roosevelt made his country overcome a
financial crisis resulting from the New York Stock Exchange
collapse in 1929. Under his administration of four consecutive
presidential terms, he upheld the friendliest foreign policy
in his country. He also furthered the foundation of the United
Nations, but before, he joined the Allies in World War II.
The United States recognized in 1933 the Bolshevik authority.
"The two governments have agreed on their peacekeeping and
world disarmament plans," reported El Universal on
November 15th. Three days later, it was made known that "the
most influential issue to speed up recognition is the prospect
of an intense trade." Against this backdrop, Fulgencio Batista
took over in Cuba as the army chief. He was not the only dictator
in the region. Following a self-inflicted coup, Uruguay's
President Gabriel Terra set up a new Constitution to remain
in office until 1938. In Venezuela, Juan Vicente Gómez
kept on dictating the country's destiny.
