Opposition deputy Antonio Barreto, (Democratic Action, state of Anzoátegui), the Vice chair of the National Assembly's Committee on Energy and Petroleum, asked the National Assembly to question Minister of Electricity Alí Rodríguez, following a blackout on Monday.
Barreto requested "the appearance of the minister at the National Assembly to be held accountable for his management and explain the reasons why the works to be completed between 2002 and 2005 as well as maintenance and expansion works of the power grid were not executed."
Barreto rejected the fact that authorities attribute power outages to excess power consumption.
