A fire that broke out this morning at the hydrodesulphurization unit 4 (HD4) of Amuay refinery, which is part of the Paraguaná refining complex (CRP), in Falcón state, northwestern Venezuela, was out at 9:58 a.m.
Jesús Luongo, the general manager of the CRP, said that crude processing operations in the Amuay refinery are running normally, as the event did not affect the distillation and conversion units. Luongo added that a multidisciplinary committee will be designated to delve into the causes of the fire.
Despite the accident, state-run oil company Petróleos de Venezuela vowed to meet domestic and international oil shipments.
