The Argentinean government plans to increase food exports to Venezuela, estimated near USD 600 million.

Based on a press release from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delegations of both countries met in Caracas to increase trade. To that end, they agreed to add new products to Argentina's exports, including fresh fruits such as grapes, apple and pear.

Argentina plans "a significant hike" in sales of chicken to Venezuela, which has become the main importer of this product. Plans include the export of 75,000 tons worth USD 115 million in 2010, Efe reported.

The Argentinean Foreign Office also highlighted the results in the rice sector, which, thanks to exports to Venezuela, has completed the "largest operations in its history." This year 85,000 tons of rice for the amount of USD 40 million will be exported to Venezuela.
