The business sectors of the state of Táchira (western Venezuela) have many expectations about a new meeting between María Ángela Holguín, the Colombian Foreign Minister, and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro will hold next week to monitor progress of the bilateral committees created last month. They are particularly expecting the response that both top officials will give to the proposals made by Venezuelan entrepreneurs to strengthen production in the border region.
Isidoro Teres, president of the Chamber of Industry and Trade of the city of Ureña, told El Universal that Nicolás Maduro received the proposals made by the Trade Chambers of the state of Táchira. Teres added that they are waiting for the meeting that both foreign ministers will hold next week. The Venezuelan businessmen have requested, among other things, the approval of a special customs regime.
