Franklin Brito's relatives voiced "to the Venezuelan people and the world" their grief for the farmer's death.
"After a struggle for more than six years, more than eight hunger strikes, mutilation of a finger and having being irregularly detained, Franklin Brito stopped today (Monday) performing vital functions," stated the notice.
The communiqué posted on Internet clarified that Brito will remain alive "in the Venezuelan people's fight for right to ownership and access to justice, for living in freedom and for governments' observance of human, collective and individual rights."
