Venezuela will not review evidence produced by Colombia

According to the Venezuelan Ambassador to the US, Colombia should have presented privately to Venezuelan officials the GPS coordinates of the places where the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) allegedly operate rather than “turning this into a media show”

The Venezuelan government does not plan to examine the pieces of evidence that allegedly show that the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), are operating in Venezuelan territory. Venezuelan authorities consider that Colombia filed the complaint inadequately, said on Tuesday the Venezuelan ambassador to the US.

"(Colombia) merely showed (images from) Google maps, photos, and video recordings of people who were there, according to them," said Ambassador Bernardo Álvarez at a press conference.

Álvarez made reference to the material that Colombian Ambassador to the OAS Luis Armando Hoyos presented last week during an extraordinary session of the Organization of American States (OAS) to reject the alleged presence of FARC camps in Venezuelan territory.

According to Álvarez, Colombia should have presented privately to Venezuelan officials the GPS coordinates of the places where the FARC allegedly operate, rather than "turning this into a media show."

The Venezuelan envoy suggested that no Venezuelan agency has visited the specific areas located in the state of Zulia that were mentioned by Ambassador Hoyos last Thursday.

Álvarez added that the Venezuelan government is in "red alert," given the possibility that the Colombian armed forces launch a missile (on Venezuelan territory) such as the one they launched on Ecuador against a FARC camp in 2008.

Lieutenant colonel Miguel Angel Urrieta was unlucky to have his phone number on Tatiana Orozco's cell phone; who was labeled as "The Queen of the Rebar." That fact and some text messages exchanged with Orozco were enough for public prosecutors to consider him a party to the shady deals with rebar which spread over a scandal from the steel plants of Sidor.
