Luis Alfonso Hoyos, Colombia's ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), told El Universal that the latest attacks carried out in his country were masterminded by guerrilla leaders located in Venezuela. This has prompted the government of Colombia's President Álvaro Uribe to produce evidence of the presence of guerrilla rebels in the neighboring country.
The government of Colombia submitted to his OAS ambassador pieces of evidence it has collected to produce them in an extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) on Thursday.
"We will show evidence of guerrilla camps established in Venezuelan," Hoyos told El Universal. The material consists of documents, maps and videos. Hoyos is extremely concerned by the fact that "those crooks, with the support of members of the National Guard, wander freely across Venezuela without fear."
Some hours earlier, the diplomat said in an interview with Colombian radio station Caracol Radio that the Colombian government does not expect Venezuela to be condemned by the OAS following Colombia's request for an extraordinary meeting. He said that Colombia seeks more cooperation from its neighbor. "It has the duty to do so."
