The Venezuelan government rejected on Friday the "attacks" perpetrated by Álvaro Uribe seeking to "destroy" bilateral relations after the outgoing President reiterated that there are Colombian guerrilla leaders in Venezuela. The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Venezuelan authorities are discussing the implementation of "firm and conclusive measures."

The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs "rejected the renewed onslaught of outgoing Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, in his effort to end his work of destruction of relations between Colombia and Venezuela that he has undertaken with unhealthy obsession in recent years."

"The path of lies, aggression and disrespect against Venezuela will always prevent the normalization of relations between the governments of our two countries. If this situation continues, the Venezuelan government could assess the implementation of firm and conclusive political and diplomatic measures," the text says.

The statement described as a "pathetic media show" the press conference held on Tuesday by top Colombian authorities.
