Colombia on Friday made an appeal to convene "as soon as possible" an extraordinary session of the Permanent Council, Organization of American States (OAS), to address the issue of the reported presence of Colombian leftist guerrillas in Venezuela.
The announcement came on the same day that Venezuela recalled its ambassador to Bogotá and forwarded a note of protest against the Colombian government's renewed accusations that a number of top leaders of the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are hiding in Venezuela, Reuters quoted.
"This request is preceded by many failed attempts to solve this serious problem," said César Mauricio Velásquez, the press secretary of the Colombian Presidency, reading a statement.
