Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez said on Thursday that Jorge Cardinal Urosa Savino have made "baseless and reckless accusations," as the Church leader states that the President is violating the Constitution. Chávez suggested the Attorney General to take action and urge the Cardinal to "prove" his statements.
Chávez said that Urosa should explain to the National Assembly and the other branches of government the grounds of his accusation, because "he is disrespecting the people, the government and the country."
The Venezuelan ruler said that Cardinal Urosa is "lying" and has made an allegation "very similar to statements of coup plotters who keep saying that as I am violating the Constitution, they have to topple me."
