Hernán Martínez, the Colombian Minister of Mines and Energy, said that Venezuela has not responded so far the offer made by Colombia to resume power supply to its neighboring country. The offer still stands, reiterated Martínez.
The Venezuelan government "despite its restrictions (in the supply of energy) has neither rejected nor accepted (our offer). They have not replied to our offer," Martínez said at a press conference.
However, "the offer still stands and if they want to take it, we are willing to sell them electricity," he said.
Colombia offered to resume a contract to sell 150 megawatts per day to Venezuela. Until late last year, Caracas had paid "on time" Colombian exports of electricity to Venezuela. Colombia exported 70 to 80 megawatts per day to its neighboring country but it decided to halt sales after the country was affected by drought.
