Isaías Rodríguez, Venezuela's ambassador to Spain, on Tuesday denied allegations that Caracas is cooperating with terrorist acts, following an order to open judicial proceedings issued by a Spanish judge who established alleged links among the Venezuelan government, the Basque separatist group País Vasco y Libertad (ETA) and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
"We categorically deny Venezuela's alleged cooperation in actions related to terrorism. We are a peaceful country. We have a socialist and humanist process under way that is absolutely democratic. We are far from any action that may involve terrorist acts," Rodríguez said in an interview with state-run TV network Venezolana de Televisión.
"We dismiss and reject definitively any presumption of alleged cooperation with terrorism," the ambassador said.
