The Venezuelan Federation of Trade and Industry Chambers (Fedecámaras) described as an illegal act the seizure of several ranches in the state of Guárico (central Venezuela) by officials of the National Land Institute (INTI) along with National Guard troops. Farms were grabbed on Monday morning.
Lope Mendoza, the first Vice President of Fedecámaras, condemned the way "Venezuela's government has devoted to destroy private property."
In an emergency press conference, Mendoza said that such actions not only destroy the countryside but also the initiative of all Venezuelan people working in the industrial sector.
02:57 PM. HEAVY RAINS. Venezuelan Executive Vice-President Elias Jaua reported that the government is designing plans to support farmers, cattlemen and peasants of the state of Mérida who have been hit by heavy rains that have caused crop losses.
