Ángel Rodríguez, the minister of Electric Power, met on Friday with representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Energy at the Caracas offices of the National Electrical Corporation (Corpoelec) to follow up cooperation agreements.
"This meeting was held to complete the fix the terms of the agreements reached by President of the Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chávez and President of the Republic of Brazil Luis Inázio Lula Da Silva, on a visit to Anzoátegui state, on their potential advice on electricity matters. Brazil is a country that has experienced similar situations to what is going on in Venezuela. There is a very important experience in the face of electrical crisis, which facilitates the actions needed to reinforce our system," the Venezuelan minister said.
Rodríguez made an appeal for a reasonable use of the electric power supply and hinted the possibility of tax exemption for some businessmen or a lower rate provided that they engage in power self-generation.
