Colombia's intelligence agency: Caracas violates international law

Western Hemisphere
Venezuela violated international laws when arresting and holding in solitary confinement a member of Colombia's secret service who has been accused of espionage by Venezuelan authorities, although he traveled to Venezuela after he was "deceived," reported on Monday the director of the Colombian intelligence service.

"Our detective (Julio Enrique Tocora) was invited by a Venezuelan friend, whom he met in an official activity in (the Colombian town of) Paraguachón, to spend a few days with some girl friends, in the Venezuelan city of Maracaibo," said Felipe Muñoz, the director of the Department of Administrative Security (DAS), in an interview with AFP.

"The detective accepted the invitation. He met his friend and the two girls, and the next day … he was surprised by Venezuelan agents who arrested him."

"Since his detention 50 days ago, we spoke with him only once. Venezuela is violating international law," Muñoz added.
