Chávez: US bases in Colombia to be used for spying on Venezuela

Western Hemisphere
Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez said that the US troops deployed in Colombian military bases would be used for spying and recommended Colombian President Álvaro Uribe and US President Barack Obama to "go and jump in a lake."

The Venezuelan president does not think that the bases are to be used for counternarcotics efforts.

"We have produced documents which show otherwise. Yankee bases in Colombia form part of a war plan; here the papers go. From these bases, the Yankee Empire will control all of South America and the whole South American territory."

He said that the United States would engage in electronic spying and even affirmed that they could send a remote controlled missile.
