The Venezuelan Ministry of Health posted on its website that the number of people dead for AH1N1 in the country climbed to 97.
On Thursday, Minister of Health Carlos Rotondaro had counted 95. However, since then two more casualties were recorded.
According to the website, 8,697 suspected cases have been tracked, resulting in 1,981 confirmed events.
The Minister of Health insisted on saying that most deaths have been due to patients' underlying diseases aggravated by the virus.
Rotondaro specified that in more than 85 percent of the causes where the disease has caused the death, treatment of the flu started five days after the outbreak. Doctors have stressed the importance of timely treatment.
Patients at risk, such as those suffering high blood pressure or diabetes, or pregnant women, are strongly recommended seeking medical treatment between the first and second day of the symptoms.
