During the opening of Expo2009 in central-northern Carabobo state, Noel Álvarez, the head of the Federation of Trade and Industry Chambers (Fedecámaras), said that Venezuelan businessmen bet on the domestic social and economic growth, but also want clear laws and regulations which foster investment in order to drive the production apparatus.
"Despite the troubles faced in Venezuela at this moment, we bet on Venezuela's social and economic growth. We bet on citizens' better quality of life and, of course, investment. But we also request clear rules from the authorities to make the necessary investments," said Álvarez.
Thus he replied to government officials who would like the private sector to support economic growth, job creation and anti-inflation efforts. Álvarez also requested specific rules, making no difference between classes or political trends.
For his part, Carabobo state governor Enrique Salas Feo asked mayors to help attract local investment.
