Three students representing the student councils of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), the Simón Bolívar University (USB) and the Andes University (ULA) joined at noon the hunger strike held by a group of students in front of the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Caracas.
The students are Roderick Navarro, a member of the Federation of Students' Council (FCU) at the UCV; Roberto Patiño, a member of the Federation of Students' Council (FCU) at the USB; and Carlos Paparoni, a representative of the ULA.
To carry out the action, the students have planned a joint demonstration from the Alfredo Sadel Square to the headquarters of the OAS in Caracas.
The students are requesting a visit of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to Venezuela, and the release of the Philosophy student Carlos Javier Lozada who was also detained during a demonstration against the government.
02:57 PM. HEAVY RAINS. Venezuelan Executive Vice-President Elias Jaua reported that the government is designing plans to support farmers, cattlemen and peasants of the state of Mérida who have been hit by heavy rains that have caused crop losses.
