President Hugo Chávez denied that the unity of the Venezuelan armed forces is broken. He said that the military supports his political "revolutionary" project.
Chávez blamed private media for inciting hatred among Venezuelans and even for conspiring against his government by trying to promote military rebellions, AP reported.
He did not mention specifically any media, but he said that "they are trying to manipulate public opinion." "I am quite sure that news and rumors about growing military discontent are false."
"We have an enemy: some private media are constantly attacking the government. They are trying to use any decision taken by the Venezuelan Revolution to manipulate things…," the President said during a military event on Tuesday night.
