The head of state said that one of the sites to be particularly
protected is the Jewish synagogue that was attacked and desecrated
last week, after some spokespersons of the Hebrew community
hinted that the government had inspired the destructive action.
"I ordered to increase surveillance, particularly during
these days, because I have information about some crazy, desperate
sectors trying to cause chaos. Therefore, last night (Thursday)
I ordered to reinforce protection in critical sites to ensure
peace," he noted.
During a meeting with small businesspersons, Chávez
said that his government was investigating the attack on the
synagogue and promised "prompt results" from police enquiries,
