Students from different Caracas-based private universities,
including Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), the
Metropolitan University and Santa María University (USM)
decided to block Francisco Fajardo highway, the main Caracas
highway, to reject a proposed constitutional amendment.
Early on Wednesday a group of UCAB students began the protests
by distributing leaflets and displaying banners to reject
a proposed constitutional amendment to establish endless reelection
for all elected incumbencies in Caracas.
The demonstrators closed the gate of the university and later
rallied in the street to rebut the draft amendment, which
the National Assembly is addressing in a second discussion
on Wednesday.
