The presidents of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner;
Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; and Venezuela, Hugo
Chávez, are planning to hold a mini-summit Monday in
Argentina.
The meeting was agreed by the Heads of State during the last
Mercosur summit, held in Tucumán, northern Argentina,
early in July, EFE reported.
Diplomatic sources said that the Latin American presidents
will deal with "an open agenda." However, government officials
said that the leaders would discuss several topics, including
cooperation in energy and food production, trade, economic
integration, investments among the three countries and the
development of the Common Market of the South (Mercosur.)
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan Embassy said that President Chávez's
agenda has not been defined yet. "President Chávez will
pay a working visit to address cooperation as well as energy
and food security issues."

HYDROCARBONS Rafael Ramírez, Venezuela's Minister of Petroleum and Mining and president of state-run oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) specified that oil exports to China would be equal to current shipments of Venezuelan oil to the United States.
