CARACAS, Thursday July 31, 2008 | Update
Venezuela has come to the regional anti-drug summit held
in the Colombian city of Cartagena with "high" expectations,
said on Thursday Venezuelan Minister of the Interior and Justice
Ramón Rodríguez Chacín.
"We will learn" about the meeting, said Rodríguez Chacín
in his succinct remarks to the press on his arrival in Cartagena,
the venue since last Wednesday of a meeting of delegates from
24 Latin American and Caribbean countries, Efe quoted.
Rodríguez Chacín refrained himself from making
additional comments on the Extended Regional Summit on the
Global Issue of Illicit Drugs, Security and Cooperation in
the Caribbean, Central America, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela.
The minister is attending the event on behalf of President
Hugo Chávez.
Colombian Vice-Minister of Multilateral Affairs Adriana Mejía
said that the key document would collect the guidelines on
the global action against drug traffic, including shared responsibility;
a comprehensive, balanced approach; international cooperation
and multilateralism.
