There is the need to ascertain whether there is really freedom of expression in Venezuela, on Tuesday said CEO of Empresas 1BC Marcel Granier during a press conference.

"Today (Tuesday) is the first anniversary of the arbitrary shutdown of (TV channel) RCTV. One year ago, we were snatched our antennas and part of our facilities," he said.

The top executive officer suggested analyzing whether the concept of freedom of expression really applies in the country.

"There is no freedom of expression where some media and journalists have to carry out their work under pressure; self-censorship should be implemented and nowadays, in many regions nationwide, only pro-government media can be watched and listened to."
