Venezuela asks US to clarify presumed air incursion

Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicolás Maduro reported that he would call US Ambassador Patrick Duddy to provide a rationale for an alleged incursion of a US military aircraft into Venezuelan territory.

Defense Minister Gustavo Rangel Briceño said that the plane of the US army was found in Venezuelan air space near the Caribbean island of La Orchila, AP reported.

Maduro said that the US ambassador was called to explain about the incident of last Saturday.

The Venezuelan authorities gave the news on Monday in a press conference, where they expressed also concern about an alleged deployment of Colombian troops on the Venezuelan-Colombian border. The Colombian Defense Minister has denied the claim.
