The United States Government Monday branded as "wild conspiracy theories" accusations by Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez against Colombia and the US for being allegedly preparing a military attack against Venezuela.

"Our focus in the region is on a positive agenda that features things like free trade and economic development, not on any kind of wild conspiracy theories," State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said, as quoted by DPA.

Casey voiced the most conciliatory message issued by US President George W. Bush's Government to Venezuela in the last weeks.

"Our focus in Venezuela is aimed at having god relations with that country," Casey said.
