President Álvaro Uribe Monday avoided answering questions
about the harsh statements his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo
Chávez made on Sunday, and stressed he had to respect
the Venezuelan people.
"That is insignificant. Any answer I may give to this question should be deeply respectful for the Venezuelan people," Uribe said in Paris, where he is paying a two-day official visit, when asked about Chávez's remarks, AP quoted.
The Colombian ruler neither made further comments nor mentioned the name of his Venezuelan counterpart.
