Two Venezuelan helicopters bearing the logo of the International
Red Cross arrived Thursday in San José del Guaviare,
southeast Colombia, to refuel and then depart for an unknown
place in the forest where they are to pick former vice-presidential
candidate Clara Rojas and former lawmaker Consuelo González
de Perdomo -two hostages held by the rebel Colombian Revolutionary
Armed Forces (FARC).
The helicopters are refueling and then are taking off to
the coordinates the FARC provided Wednesday to Venezuelan
President Hugo Chávez, said Guaviare governor Oscar López.
Colombian opposition senator Piedad Córdoba got off
one of the helicopters. The operation is conducted under stringent
security measures.
Governor López said the choppers "are refueling and
taking off," bound for the place where the hostages would
be freed.
The hostages will be delivered to the Red Cross International
Committee and delegates of the Venezuelan government headed
by Minister of the Interior and Justice Ramón Rodríguez
Chacín, a spokesman for the Red Cross told AFP.
Oil Scenario
HYDROCARBONS Rafael Ramírez, Venezuela's Minister of Petroleum and Mining and president of state-run oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) specified that oil exports to China would be equal to current shipments of Venezuelan oil to the United States.
