Prince Felipe, the heir of the Spanish crown, is likely to
hold an informal talk with President Hugo Chávez, during
the inauguration of Argentinean president elect Cristina Kirchner
next December 10, diplomatic sources said Thursday.
It would be a "fortuitous meeting" with "an informal nature"
they may hold on the sidelines of the inauguration in Buenos
Aires, the source said.
Chávez and the Spanish government are going through
a crisis, following a verbal clash with Spanish King Juan
Carlos I, who asked Chávez to shut up during the 17th
Ibero-American Summit, held in Chile.
On Monday, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos
congratulated the Venezuelan people for their "democratic
maturity," following a referendum on December 2 where Chávez's
intended changes to the Constitution were rejected, AFP reported.
On Wednesday, Chávez labeled as "a good sign" the congratulations
of the Spanish government.
"I was asked to talk to the Prince of Asturias in Buenos
Aires, as he is going to deliver a personal message from the
King. I am going to talk to him because I am a gentleman,"
Chávez said.
