Pro-government party Podemos deputy Ismael García Tuesday rejected the the National Assembly's effort to keep the draft reform of the Constitution alive as it was proposed by President Hugo Chávez, since it was "defeated" in last Sunday referendum.

García ruled out that Podemos gives its vote to support an initiative discussed Tuesday in the Congress, which states that the National Assembly would back President Chávez's intent to keep advancing his draft reform.

"We cannot keep working on a proposal that was defeated by society, keep insisting and trying to formulate it in a different way," said García.
