Venezuelans abroad vote in referendum

At 5:30 a.m., local time, the polling station in the Venezuelan Embassy to France opened.

There has been a significant turnout of Venezuelan residents in Paris. The process is expected to continue in the afternoon and as far as there are voters in the line, as set forth in the election rules.

Meanwhile, in Miami, Florida, the number of voters is small, reported Efe. Miami is the largest Venezuelan polling station abroad. Voters from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina cast their votes there.

According to Venezuelan Consul to Miami, Antonio José Hernández Borgo, some 800-1,000 voters, out of 18,000 people registered in the voters roll, cast their ballots in the first three hours and a half since the beginning of the polling day.

In Spain, the process was going smoothly. The five Venezuelan consulates in that country opened their doors at 8:00 a.m. and will close at 6:00 p.m., waiting for 9,091 Venezuelans registered in the voters roll to exercise their right to vote.

In Madrid, where 2,313 Venezuelans should cast their votes, there are still no figures on turnout, but some voters commented, “There are few people compared to other times.”
