Yon Goicoechea, a representative of the student movement,
on Sunday urged the youth again to cast their ballots and
said that Venezuelans had no excuse to refrain themselves
from expressing their opinion on the changes to the Constitution
proposed by President Hugo Chávez.
"The Venezuelan youth should go and exercise their right
to vote and voice their disagreement and say on their own
what they want for their future. We think that the people
who are now at home watching TV should be fully aware of the
meaning of a constitutional reform and voting the constitutional
reform. Please, do not miss this opportunity; do not give
the country away; do not give your vote; go and vote with
hope and optimism. If you vote, I promise you we will have
a better future," he said.
The student of law with Andrés Bello Catholic University
(UCAB) noted that both the students and the whole country
cannot afford not to take part in the constitutional referendum
called by the National Electoral Council (CNE) on Sunday.
"There is no reason, there is no excuse, there is no Sunday,
there is no reason why we, Venezuelans cannot vote today the
constitutional reform," he said.
