Former Minister of Defense Raúl Isaías Baduel suggested
the National Electoral Council (CNE) to convene a meeting between
the political groups supporting and rejecting President Hugo
Chávez's proposed changes to the Constitution, parliamentarian
Ismael García said.
"I delivered a letter from General Baduel to the CNE at 3 pm
outlining a proposal that the groups supporting the No vote
and the Yes vote may meet before the results are announced,"
he explained.
Baduel, who headed a civic-military operation that returned
President Hugo Chávez to power following a brief coup,
recently branded the intended constitutional reform as a new
coup d'etat, and urged people to vote NO.
