The coalition of parties that oppose the constitutional reform
proposal advanced by President Hugo Chávez warned today
that the President has prepared 100 laws which will allow
him to establish an "authoritarian" Socialism in Venezuela,
in the event that the reform proposal is approved in the next
Sunday referendum.
The political leaders, supported by university students,
assured that the supporters of the "NO" vote are facing all
the State's power in an asymmetric electoral campaign, but
that they are confident that citizens' involvement by massively
going to vote will put a stop to Chávez's "authoritarian"
Socialism.
Leopoldo López, major of Chacao municipality, declared
that Venezuelans who reject the reform have to vote, because
"if we do not vote, we will hardly win."
Henrique Capriles, mayor of Baruta Municipality and leader
of opposition Primero Justicia party, pointed out that the
government has turned the next Sunday's election into a plebiscite
on Chávez's presidency, trying to convince its supporters
that Chávez's permanence in power is at stake, reported
DPA.
