On the first day of transmissions of private television station
RCTV on cable TV, its Information and Opinion Vice-President
Eduardo Sapene said they would continue to inform and entertain
the Venezuelan public.
He stressed that migration to cable and satellite television,
as well as television over the Internet allowed RCTV to reach
50 percent of Venezuelan households.
Also, he underscored that newly adopted international format
allows the 53-year-old TV channel to reach some areas in the
Caribbean, as well as other nine countries in the Americas,
from Argentina to Canada.
"Despite bleak forecasts, we are very proud to be here again
today with Venezuela, in order to report on the situation
facing the country, to entertain the Venezuelan people just
like they deserve."
RCTV hopes the same legal provisions in force for other international
TV channels airing on cable are applied to this Caracas-based
private television station.
