Chávez accused of meddling by Bolivian Senate

The Bolivian Senate, with a majority of opponents of President Evo Morales, accused Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez of interfering with Bolivian domestic affairs, and demanded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make the relevant protest.

The resolution -endorsed by the 13 senators comprising the conservative alliance of Democratic and Social Power (Podemos)- rejects recent Chávez' statements about the adjournment of a project to install a petrochemical compound in Bolivia.

"Bolivia is a free and sovereign country," the resolution claimed.
