On Tuesday, about 3:30 p.m. an irregular situation emerged in Chacaíto, eastern Caracas, between students staging a demonstration and the Metropolitan Police (PM).

The university students insisted on moving towards Francisco Fajardo highway and started to hurl stones. Police agents fired back with tear gas canisters and pellets.

As students tried to demonstrate on the freeway, they bumped into two police lines.

Earlier Tuesday morning, students of Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB) and Central University of Venezuela (UCV) met in Chacaíto for a march towards the head offices of the Organization of American States (OAS).

TV shots in the afternoon showed the students retracted to El Rosal Avenue.
