Private TV channel Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) will
observe "the closure ordered by the national government, even
though it does not share the arbitrary, unconstitutional and
illegal terms," said a press release from the station.
"RCTV, compliant with the institutional ways, is fully cooperating with the authorities of the national armed force and (National Communications Council) Conatel, and has given them access to our broadcasting facilities."
"At 11:59 of today, Sunday, May 27th, 2007, RCTV technicians will hand over the operation of our broadcasting equipments, which are working neatly and will be left in perfect conditions and completely running," the communiqué added.
"From that moment on, the authorities of the national government will be the only ones responsible for the integrity of such equipments and they will ensure the operations. Taking the appropriate action to air the signal of the new open TV nationwide will be the sole responsibility of the national government."
