The Venezuelan embassy in Nicaragua called Thursday a rally in Managua to back the decision made by the government of President Hugo Chávez not to renew a broadcast license for private TV channel Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV).

According to a press release, the demonstration is scheduled Sunday near the diplomatic mission.

The act is "to support the Venezuelan state sovereign decision not to renew a license to use the radio spectrum by TV channel RCTV," Efe quoted.

The embassy urged Nicaraguans to attend the event and thanked the Nicaraguan media and international press agencies in advance for their participation and unpartisan coverage.
