Alberto Gonzales, the US Attorney General, expressed Thursday
disagreement with the recent ruling by a federal judge to
dismiss the charges against anti-Castro activist Luis Posada
Carriles, AFP reported.
"We are aware of the judge's decision. Obviously, we take
issue with it," the Attorney General explained during a hearing
at the US Congress, when queried by Democrat Representative
Bill Delahunt about the release last Wednesday of the activist
regarded as terrorist.
"Could I say that, with due respect, I disagree with the
judge?," he said after the Representative read out the ruling
issued by federal judge Kathleen Cardone of El Paso, Texas,
and her rough criticism of the Attorney General.
"In addition to fraud, deception and tricks, this court considers
that the government tactics are as shocking and outrageous
that they violate the universal meaning of justice," the judge
said.
