Mexican Manuel Espino, the chair of Christian Democratic
Organization of America (OCDA) voiced again Thursday his organization
total support to TV channel Radio Caracas Televisión
(RCTV).
The action is related to a decision made by the Government
of President Hugo Chávez not to renew a broadcast license
for the channel and "in defense of freedom of expression in
Latin America."
"ODCA has taken up the commitment, not only to provide moral
support to RCTV, but also take the initiative -with the consent
of (RCTV CEO) Marcel Granier and RCTV- to take action in several
Latin American countries," Espino told AFP.
The official attended in Berlin a conference sponsored by
the Vaclav Havel Committee for Democracy in Cuba.
The action in Latin America, according to Espino, will be
"in favor of freedom of expression in the region, but particularly
on behalf of RCTV."
