Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General José
Miguel Insulza expects to stop being at odds with President
Hugo Chávez pretty soon and denied any meddling in Venezuela's
internal affairs.
"There is a number of reasons that we will clarify on due
time. I plan to do it over the next few days," Insulza told
Friday Chilean morning newspaper El Mercurio.
Insulza arrived in Chile on Thursday night to attend an OAS
seminar and spend the weekend with some friends, AP reported.
Chávez called the OAS secretary-general an "idiot, insipid,"
for having declared in Washington that the closure of private
TV channel Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) as a result
of the government reluctance to renew a broadcasting license
endangered freedom of expression.
"I do not like insults; what do you want me to say? I do
not like them in politics as an argument, let alone to be
insulted. Therefore, I was not indifferent," the Chilean diplomat
conceded.
