President Hugo Chávez' remarks against Organization
of American States (OAS) Secretary-General José Miguel
Insulza are "rather unfortunate," said US Assistant Secretary
for Public Affairs and Department of State Spokesman Sean
McCormack.
"I heard the comments. I think that they are rather unfortunate
and certainly are not constructive to create a big understanding
and mutual respect in the region," said the official during
a press conference, as quoted by AFP.
Chávez called the OAS secretary-general an "idiot" and
asked him to quit in reply to a communiqué where the
official asked the Venezuelan government to review the decision
not to renew a broadcasting license to private TV channel
RCTV.
