ETA member José Arturo Cubillas Fontán, who was
hired by President Hugo Chávez' administration, just
like his wife Goizeder Odriozola has become a Venezuelan citizen,
as evidenced from the Venezuelan Electoral Register.
Based on the roll of voters newly disclosed by the National
Electoral Council ahead of next December 3rd presidential
election, Cubillas is a Venezuelan citizen.
Cubillas was appointed director of the Management and Services
Office, Ministry of Agriculture and Lands in a decree published
in October 2005, Efe disclosed.
Since the early 1990s, he married Odriozola, a Venezuelan-Basque
journalist, whom Chávez administration designated as
head of the Presidency Ministry; as published on September
27 in the Official Gazette.
Odriozola occupied a position as head of Information and
Public Relations, Agriculture and Lands Ministry, where her
husband works.
Cubillas (48) is one of the 11 ETA members who were taken
in May 1989 from Algiers to Venezuela -following unsuccesful
talks between ETA and the Spanish Government. He is wanted
by the Spanish police in connection with three murders.
On Thursday, after reports that Cubillas and his wife were
Venezuelan servants, the Spanish Government vowed to find
out any charges against him.
