It is possible that Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has resolved to support Venezuela's application for a seat at the United Nations Security Council, Chilean daily El Mercurio reported.

"It was disclosed that President Michelle Bachelet told his circle that 'so far' she made the decision to vote the Government of President Hugo Chávez as a temporary member at the United Nations(UN) Security Council for considering that she cannot turn her back to South America," the newspaper stated, AP quoted.

The Chilean Government has not confirmed this version. It said officially that the decision would be released on the eve of the election, where Guatemala is another candidate as Latin American representative.
