President of Caracas Country Club, Fernando Zozaya, said to be surprised by the decision of the Metropolitan Mayoralty to seize the lands of this club, claiming he has not been notified of the move.

The representative of the civil association told local TV channel Globovisión that about 11,000 people are to be negatively affected by the decision.

He said that the affected people include 1,000 direct workers; 2,500 indirect workers and 9,000 members of the club. He underscored that all the people living in the neighborhood of the club are also to be hit, since these plots of lands are not suitable for housing. He also remembered that the golf courses are the lungs of the city and the seizure is to have an environmental impact.
