CARACAS, Wednesday June 14, 2006 | Update
During the delivery of Russian AK-103 assault rifles to Venezuela,
President Hugo Chávez said he has ordered the revision
of concessions the Venezuelan State granted to television
operators, which are due in 2007.
According to the ruler, the operators do whatever they
want in the name of "a supposed freedom of speech." "We cannot
act in such an irresponsible way, we cannot continue granting
concessions to a small group of people for them to operate
TV channels in the radio-electric space that belongs to the
State -that is, to the people- and use it against ourselves,
right under our very nose. I don't give a damn about the opinion
of world's oligarchies. I care about my country's fate."
Also, Chávez announced the building of a factory of
K-103 assault rifles in Maracay, capital city of central Aragua
state. He also said his administration decided to enlarge
the acquisition of helicopters, which are "attack helicopters
-ideal for a resistance war." Combat planes from Russia are
also to be bought, as part of the plan to increase the combat
and resistance capacity of Venezuelan Armed Force.
